Multan Custom seizes foreign origin cigarettes worth Rs1.3m from DG Khan

MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs anti-smuggling squad seized foreign origin cigarettes worth Rs1.3 million in their action from Dera Ghazi Khan region.

According to the details, Customs Collectorate Preventive has received credible information that huge quantity of foreign origin smuggled cigarettes would be transported through Quetta to Multan via Dera Ghazi Khan Region.

Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization has formed the special team to thwart them after mounting concrete information about smuggling.

Deputy Collector Maqbool Ahmad Baloch formed special team comprised of Muhammad Waqas Leghari, Inspector Muhammad Asif Sindhu and others participated in the action.

Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization was carrying out their routine patrolling and they intercepted the suspected truck loaded with different goods. Customs Anti-Smuggling recovered almost 545 different outer of cigarettes during the examination of said goods.

The recovered cigarettes were of different brands and they were transporting said smuggled cigarettes to different retailers of South Punjab especially in Multan. Customs teams found that Cigarettes were without instructions of Underage and health mandatory warnings .Sources told Customs today that said Cigarettes were smuggled through Afghanistan from covert routes in the country without paying Customs any duty taxes.

Customs asked driver of said truck to produce any import documents to prove their legal possession and they failed to do so. Customs team seized foreign origin Cigarettes under Customs Act 1969. The value of recovered Cigarettes was almost Rs1.5 million. Further Investigation was still under process.
