MULTAN: The Collectorate of Customs Adjudication has concluded the hearing of 53 seizure cases worth Rs 71.640 million during the month of May.
Deputy Collector Farhat Ali has decided the cases worth Rs 13.955 million after the completion of proceedings. During the month of May, Deputy Collector Farhat Ali had conducted legal proceeding of the 52 seizure cases.
Deputy Collector has 27 pending cases of involving amount of Rs 16.167 million after May. There were 21 fresh seizures of worth Rs 10.167 million during May. These seizure cases were formed by the Anti-Smuggling Organization and Customs Intelligence and Investigation in the different actions of anti-smuggling activities.
Additional Collector Fayaz Anwar has finalized 27 seizure cases of Rs 47.685 million for the duration of May after the completion of case proceedings. There were almost 35 seizure fresh cases of worth Rs63.593 million included in the additional court for legal trial in May. All the seizure cases were decided in the favor of Customs department.
The Collector Customs Adjudication Raja Tahir Majeed has settled only one case of Rs 1 million during the month of May. Collector Raja Tahir Majeed has nine pending seizure cases of worth Rs 57.149 million in May.
Almost 44 new seizure cases of worth Rs 64.114 million have been added during the month of May for legal proceedings in the Customs Adjudication Multan office. There are still 71 pending seizure cases of Rs 136.909 million available in the Customs Adjudication from May. Customs Adjudication has decided almost 359 seizure cases of worth Rs 665.399 million in deputy collector, additional collector and collector level in the first eleven months of the ongoing fiscal year 2015-16.
The large numbers of pending seizure cases are available to Additional Collector Fayaz Anwar for proceedings. There were 54 seizure cases of additional collector worth Rs 95.137 million available for proceedings in the Adjudication. Pendency of various seizure cases increasing day by day due to hindrance from respondents and few respondents adopt delaying tactics during the hearing of seizure cases.
Deputy Collector Customs Adjudication has decided large number of seizure cases of 249 worth Rs 94.497 million throughout the first eleven months of the on-going fiscal year 2015-16.
There are still 115 seizure cases of worth Rs 201.023 million available for adjudication in the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication.
The hearing of the seizure cases also disturbed in the Customs Adjudication Multan due to the holy month of Ramadan schedule.
