MULTAN: The Customs Adjudication Camp Office disposed 40 seizure cases after adjudicating involving Rs.40.484 million during the month of April.
Sources told Customs Today that Customs Adjudication Deputy Collector Farhat Ali decided as many as 23 seizure cases which were forwarded by Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) and Customs Intelligence and Investigation in their anti-smuggling activities. These seizure cases were related to evasion of customs duty and other taxes to the tune of Rs11.484 million during April. These seizure cases include vehicles, art silk cloths, auto parts and miscellaneous goods.
Deputy Collector Farhat Ali has settled all 23 seizure cases in favor of tax department after completion of trial and issued Order-in-Originals (ONOs) in favour of Customs department. As many as 23 new seizure cases of worth Rs.11.965 million have been added before Deputy Collector Farhat Ali for trial during April.
Additional Collector Customs Adjudication Talib Hussain decided 17 seizure cases of smuggled vehicles and goods of worth Rs.29 million for the duration of April. About two seizure cases were decided in the favour of taxpayer by Additional Collector Talib Hussain after completion of trial in Customs Adjudication. Almost 12 fresh seizure cases of Rs.27.300 million has been included for hearing in April.
Collector Asif Buzdar has not decided any seizure case during the above said period and reserved the decision of smuggled cell phone cases after completion of hearing. Collector Customs Adjudication is facing unnecessary delay in the trial of pending seizure cases due to non-cooperation of respondents.
