MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization seized huge quantity of smuggled miscellaneous goods and vehicles of worth Rs133.18 million during successful crackdown against non-duty paid items in August 2019-20.
Collector Multan Customs Ambreen Ahmad Tarar has stepped up crackdown against smuggled goods under the special directions of Chief Collector Centre Region Zeba Hai Azhar to curtail smuggling in the South Punjab and anti-smuggling squad has stepped up its efforts in the jurisdiction. Collector Ambreen Tarar has devised new strategy against anti-smuggling after the formation of Preventive Collectorate to thwart any attempt of smuggling in the region.
Collector Ambreen Ahmad Tarar has integrated anti-smuggling strategy to curb menace of smuggling in the South Punjab and Anti-Smuggling Organization has also accelerated crackdown in the territory for curbing menace of smuggled goods after clear directions from Chief Collector.
Collector Ambreen Ahmad adopted aggressive strategy and anti-smuggling squad has started special vigilance of the few suspected areas at major entry points of the region with the assistance of the law enforcement agencies.
Anti-Smuggling Organization have launched massive anti-smuggling operation with the special assistance of Border Military Police and Customs Intelligence.
Collector told Customs Today that anti-smuggling organization has impounded 20 vehicles of numerous models and new designs in their operations of worth Rs40.2 million for the duration of August. These seized vehicles includes Toyota Premio, Mark X, Land Cruiser, Mercedez Benz Vitz, Toyota Hilux Surf ,Corolla and others. Multan Customs Anti-Smuggling has also seized huge quantity of foreign origin Tyres, Iranian Juices, cigarretes ,tiles and 48448 litres of High Speed Deisel of worth Rs.92.98 million during the month of August.
Collector Ambreen Ahmad Tarar told that Multan Customs would continue its anti –smuggling activities in the region to curb the menace of smuggling from widespread jurisdiction.
She further stated that Multan Customs will continue its intensive anti-smuggling work without compromising the objectives of trade facilitation in region. Anti-Smuggling Organization has bolstered up intelligence exchange and co-operation with law-enforcement agencies to curb smuggling in the jurisdiction. Further investigations against smugglers are still under process.
