The department collected Rs 1.048 billion in wake of sales tax in August against Rs 3 billion collected during the corresponding period of the last year. According to the officials, the revenue collection is directly linked with clearance of consignments from Multan Dry Port. Less import from the dry port will have negative impact on the revenue collection.

In wake of federal excise duty, it collected Rs 14.6 million during August 2016 whereas collection of the federal excise duty stood at Rs 3.4 million last year.

The Multan Customs collected Rs 25.621 million under the head of income tax in August 2016, while it collected Rs 31.2 million during the same period of the last year.

It generated Rs 676.876 million from petroleum levies and almost Rs 1.3 million as additional sales taxes during the said period.

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has not assigned any monthly or annual revenue collection target to Multan Customs so far.
