Multan Customs collects Rs26,724m during  July-Dec 2015

MULTAN: Customs Multan has managed to collect duties and levies of Rs 26,724 million in the July-December period of the on-going fiscal year.

During the quarter from (Oct-Dec 2015) the Customs Multan collected customs duty amounting to Rs 1,857.9 million against the target of Rs 3,336.9 million. While the Customs Multan collected Rs 2,404.1 million during the corresponding year with 73 percent achievement of target.

The total tax collection stood at Rs 13.61 billion during the said period against the assigned target of Rs 9.089 billion, almost 56 percent excess than the assigned target. Almost Rs 8,789 million against the set target of Rs 6,483 million during the second quarter of the current economic year 2015-16 were collected. About Rs 5,736.8 million were collected during the corresponding fiscal year . But due to enforcement in tax collection, the Customs Multan has successfully achieved the assigned target with 136 percent of sales taxes during the second quarter of the economic year 2015-16.

Federal Excise Duty of Rs 44.87 million against given target of Rs 44.87 million collected during the on-going fiscal year 2015-16. The Customs Multan has collected Rs 63.48 million during second quarter of the on-going economic year 2015-16.

Due to reshuffling in the major posts of the Collectorate by appointing reputed officers at key posting and strict enforcement against smuggling resulted in higher recoveries.

Customs Multan has made strict actions in the jurisdiction against smugglers due to which lawful trade in the region is enhancing gradually in the region.

Collector Sarfraz Ahmad Warraich have taken serious steps against smuggling to root out menace of  smuggling from jurisdiction which will increase business and revenue of the Collectorate .
