Multan Customs deploys high-efficiency cameras at Sadiqabad & Dera Ghazi Khan check-posts to curb smuggling

MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Collectorate Enforcement Multan has enhanced surveillance through deployment of high-efficiency cameras at Sadiqabad and Dera Ghazi Khan checkpoints to curb smuggling in the jurisdiction.

Multan Customs Collectorate has installed that the high efficiency cameras and these will improve monitoring thereby reducing smuggling occurrences in the region. Equipped with high end technology such as facial and persistent high-definition cams, all vehicular activities are recorded in high definition and sharp videos. Being positioned perfectly enough to provide coverage, these cameras enable customs’ personnel to monitor shabby activities during the course of the events and intervene as and when necessary.

The officials said that the cameras are fitted with special features like the automatic number plate recognition (ANPR). By this technology, an enforcement vehicle is able to read a number plate and relay this information to a database of entities of interest with efficiency in the enforcement operations boosted tremendously.

High-efficiency cameras for Pakistan: The fighting against smuggling was further marked by the Multan Customs Collectorate who remarked, “The implementation of these high-efficiency cameras significantly improves our fight against such crimes.  These surveillance tools help monitor offences and warrant an instantaneous arrest of the offenders, boosting border security.

The new surveillance system is useful in addressing threats posed by this subject as interceptions have been made since the introduction of this new gadget. Also they helping the Customs officials in the day to day operation enhancing the surveillance at the same time becoming a strong deterrent measure to those who engage in smuggling.

This is a strategy that has been initiated by the Customs department, and the idea being advanced is to extend this to other areas of the region using similar surveillance put in place. This means that a comprehensive approach should be developed and integrated into a single system of high-tech monitoring and development of security measures that would further advance the customs service, strict legislation and strict adherence to the laws.

This has been encouraged by other related parties such as the local police force, and the business circle to embrace the use of modern technology for the protection of the trade corridors and eradication of the unlawful incidences. This they said credit must go to the Customs department which has not been found wanting in its efforts at protecting the borders of the nation.

Now that the Modern Security thinking stays on the exhibition and the Multan Customs Collectorate has similarly induced new layered security solutions, pilfering of high efficient cameras on the Sadiqabad and the Dera Ghazi checkposts represent a model for border security.
