MULTAN: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan has charred contraband items of up to Rs 20 million on the occasion of ‘International Customs Day’ at Wagah border, Lahore.
At Multan Customs Intelligence office, no ceremony regarding the International Customs Day was observed.
Additional Director Nisar Ahmad told Customs Today that Superintendent Fareed-ul-Din Masood was sent as a representative of Multan office along with a container loaded with prohibited items including smuggled cigarettes, quid (naswar), Indian gutka as well as fire crackers and mobile phone accessories to Lahore to destroy them during the ceremony of the International Customs Day which was held at Wagah border, Lahore.
He said that Pakistan is a very active member of the World Customs Organization (WCO) and under WCO platform the training of Customs officials and sharing of information continues among the member countries to tackle the menace of smuggling throughout the world.
