Multan Customs impounds consignment of dry fruits worth Rs25.244m from DG Khan

MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization impounded consignment of dry fruits loaded on a 10 wheeler truck worth Rs25.244 million from Dera Ghazi region.

According to the details, Collector Fayyaz Anwar received credible information that huge quantity of dry fruits will be transported to South Punjab through Dera Ghazi Khan Region.

Collector Fayaz Anwar formed special team comprising Inspector Asif Rafique Sandhu and others to foil their bid of smuggling in jurisdiction. Customs Anti-Smuggling squad started patrolling of the suspected routes and enhanced the vigilance of various routes after receiving said information.

Multan Customs anti-smuggling squad intercepted a suspected 10 wheeler truck loaded with foreign origin dry fruits almonds, raisins and pomegranate seeds near Sakhi Sarwar road Dera Ghazi Khan.

Anti-Smuggling Organization team recovered different qualities of raisins having 14060 kilograms. Customs teams also recovered shelled almonds. The net weight of almonds was 2745 kilograms. The almonds were USA origin.

Customs teams also recovered pomegranate seeds of 4750 kilograms during through examination of the said truck.

Anti-smuggling squad asked driver of the said truck to provide legal documents of the foreign origin dry fruits .Upon failure of driver in providing any import documents regarding the import of the almonds, raisins and pomegranate seeds.

The total worth of the seized dry fruit is Rs25.244 million along with vehicle.

Customs teams decided to seize dry fruits after thorough examination. The driver informed Customs staff that he was coming from Quetta and its destination was Multan.

Anti-Smuggling squad seized almond under Customs act 1969. Further investigations were under process.
