Multan Customs accelerates operations against non-duty paid vehicles

MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs impounded five non-customs paid vehicles of Rs11 million from jurisdiction in their different actions.

According to details, Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization has accelerated crackdown against smuggled vehicles in the territory on the directions of Collector Ambreen Ahmad Tarar. Collector Ambreen Ahmad Tarar has directed field staff of Anti-Smuggling Organization to step up their operations in the region to curb smuggling of non-customs paid vehicles.

Anti-Smuggling Organization vehicle cell comprising Inspector Abdul Samad, Inspector Muhammad Saleem, Inspector Khalid Hussain, Inspector Tahir Iqbal, Sepoy Muhammad Irfan Qureshi, Abdul Sattar, Sajjad Qureshi and others carried out road operations and impounded Civic Honda of model 2005 valuing Rs1.5 million from Chowk Munda. Same team intercepted Toyota Land Cruiser jeep of model 2003 valuing Rs5 million from Sahiwal region.

Customs teams seized Toyota Crown car of model 1994 valuing almost Rs 1.5 million from Sher Shah Bypass region in their successful action. Anti-Smuggling Organization team seized Toyota Hilux Surf vehicle of model 1994 worth Rs1.8 million from Sher Shah Toll Plaza in their crackdown.

Customs anti-smuggling squad impounded Toyota Passo of model 2008 of almost Rs1 million from surrounding of Saqidabad during their action.

Customs asked drivers of the said vehicles to produce documents for proving legal possession of the vehicles but they failed to present any documents regarding. Multan Customs seized all five non-duty paid vehicles under Customs act 1969.The values of the seized vehicles were almost Rs.11 million. Further investigations are still underway.
