MULTAN: Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization impounded non-duty paid foreign origin Toyota Land Cruiser worth Rs2.5 million in their action.
Sources told Customs Today that Multan Customs Collectorate received credible information from their informer that foreign origin vehicle is moving on the roads of Khanewal. Deputy Collector Saqib-ur- Rehman Warraich formed special teams including Inspector Waqas Hameed Abdul Jabbar, Jawad Qadeer and Ghulam Abbas to intercept the said non-duty paid Toyota Land Cruiser.
Anti-smuggling squad started patrolling in the Khanewal city and enhanced monitoring to intercept said non duty paid Toyota Land Cruiser.
Multan Customs team intercepted the suspected vehicle Toyota Land Cruiser model 1996 in their action and took the vehicle into their custody. Driver of the said vehicle was asked to produce legal documents of the Toyota Land Cruiser to justify possession of the vehicle but he failed to produce any import document. Anti-Smuggling Squad seized the vehicle worth Rs2.5 million involving duty taxes of Rs.2 million after proper physical examination of the said vehicles .
Anti-Smuggling Organization seized the smuggled vehicle under section 156(i) 89(i) and 90 of the Customs Act 1969 and shifted the vehicle in the Multan Customs State Ware House. Further investigations are still underway.
