DG Valuation revises customs value of almond through Valuation Ruling 1037/2017

Multan customs impounds smuggled almonds from Sadiqabad

MULTAN: Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization seized the huge quantity of foreign origin consignment of almond loaded on a truck from Sadiqabad region.

Sources told Customs Today that the Collectorate received credible information from the source that huge quantity of almond and dry fruits will be transported through Sadiqabad region .Deputy Collector Saqib-ur-Rehman Warraich formed special team comprised of Inspector Waqas Hameed, Muhammad Ishfaq, Jameel Ahmad and Shahbaz Ahmad to foil their bid of smuggling in jurisdiction.

Multan Customs anti-smuggling squad intercepted a suspected truck loaded with foreign origin almond near Kot Sabzal area Sadiqabad. Anti-Smuggling Organization team recovered 25 cartons of foreign origin almonds.

The net weight of the recovered almond was almost 550 kilograms .The almonds were USA origin. Customs teams asked driver of the said truck to provide legal documents of the foreign origin almonds. Upon failure of driver in providing any import documents regarding the import of the almonds.

Customs teams decided to seize almonds after thorough examination. The driver informed Customs staff that he was coming from Karachi and its destination was Multan. Anti-Smuggling squad seized almond under Customs Act 1969.Further investigations were under process. The total worth of the seized almond was almost Rs7,00, 000/-.
