Multan Customs Intelligence and Investigation seizes air conditioners worth Rs5m

MULTAN: Multan Customs Intelligence and Investigation and Anti-smuggling Organization have raided the storeroom of an electronic shop and seized the imported air conditioner of RS.5 Million on tip off informer.

The owner of storeroom resisted against the raid of customs Intelligence and Investigation and Anti-Smuggling Organization. The stock of storeroom was in the ownership of Mashallah Electronics Hussain Agahi and their storeroom was on the water works road consisting of bulk range of electronics in the store.

The operation was a joint effort from the Customs Intelligence and Investigation and Anti-smuggling Organization. Mashallah Electronics is the popular and biggest electronics seller of the market in Multan City that is located in the populated area of Hussain Agahi.
When the Customs Intelligence and Investigation along with Anti-Smuggling Organization have raided the storeroom, the employees of the storeroom tried to interfere in the duties and due to interference, Customs Authorities called the local police for assistance to keep the atmosphere peaceful during their job.

More than RS.50 million of goods were kept in the storeroom containing 1000 refrigerators of different brands, 350 split air conditioners and other goods. Customs found 50 imported split air conditioners during the raid at store room of mashallah electronics.
Customs asked for the import documents and goods declared invoices from the owner of the electronics storeroom for its 50 gree split air conditioner .Owner failed to produce any invoice to Customs department so the custom department detained and seized the split air conditioner at the spot with the help of Police.

The Federal Board of Revenue have also started investigation against the owner of storeroom and his tax returns were also screened again in suspect of tax evasion.
