Multan Customs Intelligence collects Rs7.575m differential amount of duty, taxes from importers

MULTAN: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Range Office has collected differential duty tax amount of Rs7.575 million from importer after thorough investigations.

According to details, Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Range Office has detained ten various import containers from their jurisdiction on the suspect of smuggling. Customs authorities detained different import containers which were cleared from Customs Port Muhammad Bin Qasim. Importers have submitted their import GDs to Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan teams to justify their legal requirement.

Customs Intelligence teams found few items which were not mentioned in the GDs and then staff decided to examine the containers thoroughly. After detention of ten import containers, Customs teams de-stuffed the import containers which were loaded with various goods including used machinery, computer systems, computer accessories and other goods during their examination.

Customs Intelligence and Investigation teams found mis-declaration in the imported quantity, weight, value and classification of goods during the examination of the imported containers. Field Intelligence Unit of Customs found that importer has paid less duty taxes than actual amount of taxes during the clearance of their import goods.

During detention of import containers, importers were agreed for the payment of actual duty taxes of the  detained containers to Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Range teams after the detection of tax evasion by filing incorrect clarification of import goods.

While Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized  polyester knitted mesh fabric of 11000 kilograms of less than their paid duty taxes and advance information report were also submitted after completion of investigation and Customs has unearth Rs.2.98 million duty tax from their import batch and one consignment of used computers duty taxes differential amount were also unearth Rs.934, 582 million during examination of goods and they have imported different items declared on their documents during import process.

Customs Intelligence has collected duty taxes without making any seizure and importer have submitted their differential amount to Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Range Office.

All detained containers were moved to Faisalabad Dry Port for examination process on the directions of Director General Customs Intelligence and Investigation Faisalabad for comprehensive speedy examination of import items. However, two various loaded import containers were still under appraisement process for further actions.
