Multan Customs Intelligence earns Rs 29.5m through auction

MULTAN: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation generated Rs 29.25 million through public auction of confiscated vehicles and goods.

The department presented eight foreign origin vehicles of several brands, including Toyota Vitz, Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Corolla, Mercedes Benz, Toyota Hilux Surf, Toyota Corolla X, Suzuki Alto and others.

Four vehicles, including Toyota Corolla, Suzuki Alto, Toyota Hilux Surf and Toyota Vitz, were successfully auctioned for Rs 3.65 million, while the bidding of remaining four vehicles was rejected due to less value offered by the bidders. Toyota Hilux Surf was auctioned for Rs 1.3 million that is highest value among auctioned vehicles.

The Customs Intelligence presented huge quantity of miscellaneous goods, including Indian art silk cloth, auto parts of 17 dismantled vehicles, tyres, ball bearing , Iron scrap, air conditioners’ pipe, Golden Bridge welding rod, motor oil, cigarettes, chassis frame and others.

During auction, foreign origin cigarettes were sold for Rs 7.25 million and chassis frames of old & used cars were auctioned for Rs 18.3 million. However, the participants showed less interest in bidding of the other items.

The auction was held at the office of Customs Intelligence located near Rajapur Khanewal Bypass, while Deputy Director Naveed ur Rehman Bughvi along with Superintendent Fareeduddin Massod supervised the whole process.

It is important to mention here that amount collected through public auction by Customs Intelligence and Investigation witnessed a jump after the assumption of charge by Deputy Director Naveed ur Rehman Bughvi.
