Multan customs intelligence seizes Rs 284m goods in 2014

MULTAN: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized several vehicles and goods worth Rs 284 million in 2014.

The Customs Intelligence and Investigation registered 157 seizure cases in 2014. The department seized impounded 71 vehicles in the three different regions. As many as 11, 21 and 41 vehicles were seized in Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Sadiqabad respectively. As many as 14 major seizure cases worth Rs 33 Million were registered during 2014.

The department seized 14 smuggled consignments of plastic granule in Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan. The Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized smuggled cloth worth Rs 25 million in different operations. The total weight of the seized imported cloth was 38,271 Kg. Ten seizure cases of tyres worth Rs 15.1 million were registered.

Almost 17, 7610 litres of Iranian high speed diesel was seized by the Customs Intelligence and Investigation. Six seizure cases worth Rs 15.78 million were registered in 2014. Industrial base oil worth Rs 15 million was seized during an operation against illegal oil in 2014 .

 

Smuggled cigarettes of different brands worth Rs 20 million were recovered in various crackdowns.

Additional Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Nisar Ahmad registered 157 cases in the year 2014. He foiled various smuggling bids. Most of the smugglers were arrested and cases were sent to the Customs Adjudication. Most of the cases were decided.

The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has devised effective monitoring and taken initiatives to curb smuggling. During 2014, Additional Director Nisar Ahmad came hard on smugglers while putting his life at stake.
