Multan: Customs intelligence seizes smuggled cloth worth Rs 8 million

MULTAN: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan seized foreign origin fabric worth Rs 8 million and impounded two mini trucks worth Rs 3.5 million that were carrying the smuggled fabric.

Customs I&I Multan Additional Director Nisar Ahmad with his team including Superintendents Ali Khan,Inspector Muhammad Saleem, Inspector Saleem Afzal, Inspector Muhammad Arshad and Sepoy Zulfiqar raided two trucks which were coming from Sindh towards South Punjab and recovered smuggled fabric.

As per detail, intelligence team chased trucks for twenty Kilometers to capture them when drivers were trying to escape. Team captured trucks near Lodhran Super Chowk bearing registration numbers TKQ 802 and TKU 553 respectively.

The drivers upon asking failed to provide any substantial documents of the loaded fabric cloth to intelligence on which fabric was seized. The total weight of confiscated cloth is 22,000 and 70,000 kilograms respectively.

An Advance Information Report has been lodged, while further investigation is underway.
