Multan: Customs Intelligence seizes smuggled Toyota Hiace ‏

MULTAN: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan has impounded smuggled ambulance during an operation.

As per details, the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Sadiqabad unit received a credible information that  a smuggled Toyota Hiace of Super GL van is going to cross through the route of Kot Sabzal.

The smuggled vehicle was bearing the registration number of CS-3680 and the model of the smuggled vehicle was 2005.

Following the directives of Additional Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Nisar Ahmad, few staff members were deployed near the Kot Sabazal to capture them. Customs Intelligence and Investigation unit Sadiqabad impounded the vehicle in an action.

The impounded vehicle was converted into the ambulance shape just to escape from law enforcement agencies. But the customs team successfully thwarted the attempt of transporting the smuggled vehicle through the Sadiqabad location.

When the customs team raided the smuggled vehicle, driver of the vehicle failed to produce any import documents to prove their possession legal. After failure of providing any legal documents Customs staff seized the vehicle.

The value of the truck was around Rs 2 million and its customs duty was almost Rs  2 million. The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan have impounded the Mazda truck under Section 157 (2) of the Customs Act, 1969.

An advance information report has been lodged against the smuggled vehicle after seizing it and further investigation were under process.
