MULTAN: Collector Customs Enforcement Imran Ahmad Chaudhry has proposed up gradation of posts of sepoys, havaldars and creation of service structure for sepoy, havaldar, ASI and SI.

In a letter to Chief Management FBR, Collector Enforcement Multan noted the sepoys and havaldars working in the Customs Department are in BS-05 & BS-07 respectively, as against the sepoys and havaldar of Punjab Police who are in BPS-07 and BPS-09 respectively. After long term stay in same rank of executive cadre, these officials, inevitably, become unmotivated and frustrated in service. It adversely affects their performance, besides weakening of administrative controls of the supervisory officers at operational level. These cadres not only need up-gradation, but also proper service structure including the creation ASI and SI cadres.

It is proposed Sepoy be upgraded to BS-7, Havaldar be promoted to BS-9, while ASI/Staff Sergeant cadre under BS-11 and SI/Sergeant cadre be created under BS-14.
