Multan Customs recovers huge quantity of almonds & skimmed milk powder

MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization recovered huge quantity of foreign origin almonds and skimmed milk powder worth Rs1.58m from goods company office.

According to details, Multan Customs Collectorate Preventive received credible information from the source that huge quantity of almond and skimmed powder will be transported through Dera Ghazi Khan Region. Deputy Collector Maqbool Ahmad Baloch formed special team of Anti-Smuggling Organization to take action against smuggled goods in jurisdiction.

Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization has raided M/s Shaheen Market and recovered 60 cartons of foreign origin almond and 1000 kilograms of skimmed milk powder during examination of goods. Customs teams asked goods company to provide legal documents of the foreign origin almonds. Upon failure in providing any import documents regarding the import of the almonds and Skimmed Milk Powder.

Customs Anti-Smuggling teams decided to seize almonds and after thorough examination. The recovered almonds and skimmed milk were American origin and said were smuggled through clandestine routes in the country and they were trying to transport non-duty paid almonds in the local markets of South Punjab.

Goods Transport Company informed Customs staff that said goods were coming from Quetta. The total worth of the seized almond was almost Rs 300,000 and skimmed milk was million Rs 1.5 million. Anti-Smuggling squad seized almonds under Customs Act 1969. Further investigations are underway.
