Multan Customs recovers smuggled goods worth Rs355m near Faisalabad Road

MULTAN: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) intercepted two containers of non-custom paid goods worth Rs355 million at Faisalabad road.

According to details, Directorate of Customs Intelligence teams led by Director (I&I) Asif Abbas Khan, Additional Director Mumtaz Ali Raza and Deputy Director Syed Itrat Hussain have raided against smugglers under the directions of Director General Customs Intelligence (I&I) Faiz Ahmad Chadhar.

Director Customs Intelligence received credible information from their source that two containers of non-duty paid goods will be transported from Faisalabad to Multan. Customs Intelligence field staff started monitoring of the suspected routes to foil any attempt of smuggling.

Customs Intelligence teams seized two large containers of non-customs paid miscellaneous goods including motors belts, grinding discs, steel wires, LED tubes and other miscellaneous items. The goods were seized under Customs Act 1969 and containers shifted to I&I warehouse.

Customs I&I authorities have transferred both containers to Customs I&I warehouse. The value of seized containers are almost Rs355 million. Further investigation regarding the seized Containers are still under process.

Director Regional Office I&I Multan Asif Abbas Khan said that Customs I&I teams were engaged in operations on daily basis to curb smuggling and will continue to pursue the smugglers until the complete elimination of smuggling.
