Multan Customs seized 60,000 litres White spirit in their action

MULTAN: Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization has thwarted an attempt of 60,000 litres white spirit smuggling attempt from Multan.

According to details, Multan Customs received tip off from their credible source that huge quantity of smuggled oil will be transported from Multan region. Collector Saud Imran Ahmad formed special team of anti-smuggling squad led by Superintendent Habib-ur-Rehman including Inspector Rana Mujtaba Noon, Inspector Ghulam Asghar, Abdul Samad, Muhammad Imran and others.

Anti-Smuggling Organization squad was deployed at various points to capture smuggle oil tanker and enhance the monitoring of the goods. Multan customs intercepted the suspected oil tanker filled with white spirit near Vehari Chowk Multan.

Customs team asked the driver to present import documents of said white spirit to prove its legal possession. During the examination of the documents, it revealed that said oil tanker was coming from Chaman border and its final destination was Faisalabad.

The oil tanker was filled with 60,000 liter Iranian origin white spirit and the import documents were proved bogus after the verification process. Iranian origin white spirit was smuggled from Iran via Baluchistan and is planned to supply to different parts of Punjab. Multan Customs teams arrested two accuse after seizing smuggled white spirit during their anti-smuggling action.

Arrested accuse were identified as Nazir Khan and Wilayat Khan while they were handed over to Customs Investigation and Prosecution (I&P) branch for further interrogations. The seized oil tanker was shifted to Multan Dry Port. The value of the seized was almost Rs.2.5 million.

Meanwhile, Multan Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization has stepped up the drive against smuggled Iranian origin POL products.
