MULTAN: The Anti-Smuggling Organization of Custom Collectorate has impounded eight smuggled vehicles worth Rs 20.4 million in the first 16 days of August of the fiscal year 2016-17.
According to the details, the Customs Collectorate Multan has initiated a crackdown against smuggled vehicles in the jurisdiction to curb smuggling. The Multan Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization has enhanced the patrolling to curtail movement of foreign origin vehicles.
Anti smuggling squad has been deputed at various routes of South Punjab especially Dera Ghazi Khan, Koh-e Suleman and Rajanpur to capture smuggled vehicles. Smuggled vehicles were transported through Punjab Baluchistan border and Anti-Smuggling Organization has intensified their focus on these adopted routes of smugglers to halt supply of non-customs paid vehicles in the territory.
Multan Customs is also cooperating with other law enforcement agencies in their crackdown against non-duty paid vehicles in the region. Anti-Smuggling Organization vehicle cell is actively taking part in the crackdown against smuggled vehicles on the basis of their information sharing with other law enforcement agencies.
Anti-Smuggling Organization has seized eight various vehicles of different models and made ups including Toyota Fielder, Toyota Rush Jeep, Suzuki Swift, Suzuki,Toyota Alto and three Toyota Land Cruiser in their actions.
These seized vehicles were seized with the cooperation of Punjab Rangers and Baluchistan Military Police during their search operation. Law enforcement agencies including Punjab Rangers and others shared timely information in their crackdown against smuggled vehicles. Documents of three impounded vehicles were proved bogus during examination of Customs. Anti-Smuggling Organization seized these eight foreign origin vehicles on the basis of non-duty paid.
