Multan Customs seizes 44,000 liters furnace oil during crackdown

MULTAN: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Range Office has foiled an attempt of smuggling 44000 liters furnace oil during an anti-smuggling activity.

According to details, a Customs Intelligence and Investigation received tip off from informer that furnace oil will pass through the clandestine route in Sadiqabad region. Deputy Director Abdul Mueed Kanjoo formed special team which comprises Inspector Umer, Inspector Haq Nawaz and others to took action against an oil tanker which was passing through Sadiqabad region.

Customs teams intercepted the Hino oil tanker from Sadiqabad checkpoint which was filled with foreign origin furnace oil. The customs teams asked the suspect to produce the original documents of the Iranin origin furnace oil to prove its lawful possession. Oil tanker owner Nawazish Ali resident of chak no. 187/9 tehsil and district Sahiwal presented the import documents to Customs intelligence on their demand and it was proved fake on the verification of Customs.

After verification Customs Intelligence and Investigation squad seized the Hino Oil tanker having registration no. 9217/Karachi of model 1994.

Following their failure, the Customs Intelligence and Investigations teams seized furnace oil with tanker by forming advance information report. The total value of the seized furnace oil is Rs.2.5 million and value of the Hino oil tanker was Rs3 million.
