Multan Customs seizes 8000 liters of HSD & petrol near Kot Addu

MULTAN: Customs Collectorate Anti-Smuggling Organization seized 8000 liters of smuggled High Speed Diesel and petrol  during their successful action near Kot Addu.

Sources told Customs Today that Multan Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization received credible information from their source that oil tanker loaded with smuggled POL products will be transported petroleum products from Kot Addu Muzaffargarh to Multan. Deputy Collector Saqibur Rehman formed special team of Anti-Smuggling Organization to intercept smuggled petroleum products. Anti-Smuggling team comprised Inspector Abdul Samad, Akhtar Hussain Sukhera, Sajjad Haider and Nadir Ali to take action against smuggled petroleum products.

Anti-Smuggling squad started patrolling of suspected routes and seized the suspected oil tanker bearing registration number SGD-3227 near Pathan Hotel Kot Addu. Customs staff found during examination that oil tanker was converted into two portions and its first portion was filled with 5000 liters High Speed Diesel (HSD) oil and other portion was filled with 3000 liters of  petrol. Customs teams asked the said driver to produce import documents of said petroleum products and its oil tanker.

Driver of said oil tanker failed to produce any legal documents of the said Petroleum products. Customs team seized the oil tanker filled with HSD and petroleum products in their action. Customs formed seizure report against non-customs paid oil tanker and its filled petroleum products.

The net worth of seized HSD and petrol is Rs800,000 and oil tanker Rs1.5 million. Further investigations are still under way.
