DG Valuation revises customs value of almond through Valuation Ruling 1037/2017

Multan Customs seizes huge quantity of almonds, truck

MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) seized huge quantity of foreign origin consignment of almond loaded on a truck from Sher Shah Bypass.

Sources told Customs Today that collector Preventive received credible information from the source that huge quantity of almond will be transported through Dera Ghazi Khan Region .Deputy Collector Saqib-ur-Rehman Warraich formed special team of Anti-Smuggling Organization comprised of Inspector Waqas Hameed Leghari and others to foil any bid of smuggling in jurisdiction.

Multan Customs anti-smuggling squad enhanced vigilance and started patrolling in the suspected routes to thwart any attempt of smuggling.

Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization has intercepted a suspected truck loaded with foreign origin almond near Sher Shah Bypass and conducted examination of loaded goods. Anti-Smuggling Organization team recovered 2041 kilogram of foreign origin almonds. Almonds were packed in different sacks .Customs teams asked driver of the said truck to provide legal documents of the foreign origin almonds .Upon failure of driver in providing any import documents regarding the import of the almonds. Customs Anti-Smuggling teams decided to seize almonds after thorough examination.

The recovered almonds were Iran origin and said almonds were smuggled through clandestine routes in the country and they were trying to transport non-duty paid almonds in the local markets of South Punjab. The driver informed Customs staff that he was coming from Quetta and its destination was Multan. The total worth of the seized almond was Rs4 million. Anti-Smuggling squad seized almond under Customs Act 1969. Further investigations were under process.
