MULTAN: In a significant operation against smuggling activities, the Anti-Smuggling Organization of Multan Customs successfully seized a massive quantity of smuggled plastic cling film, valued at Rs48 million, during a well-coordinated raid in the Industrial Estate Area.
The raid was conducted under the directives of Syed Imran Sajjad Bukhari, Collector Customs Enforcement Multan, as part of the government of Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to combat smuggling. The operation was led by Assistant Collector Customs Enforcement ASO Zaigham Ali, who, acting on a specific tip-off, orchestrated the raid on a warehouse suspected of housing the contraband.
During the raid, the Anti-Smuggling Squad discovered and seized approximately 55,000 kilograms of plastic cling film that had been illicitly brought into the country. The seized goods have been transferred to a secure warehouse as the investigation progresses.
Speaking on the successful operation, Assistant Collector Headquarter MCC Multan Customs Enforcement Zaigham Ali confirmed the value of the seized plastic film and reiterated the department’s commitment to cracking down on smuggling activities in the region. “The estimated value of the smuggled plastic film is around Rs48 million. The film was being stored with the intention of illegal distribution within the market, but due to the swift action of our team, we have successfully intercepted this operation,” Ali stated.
He further emphasized that the operation is part of a broader strategy to enforce Pakistan’s anti-smuggling laws, ensuring that the local market remains free of illegal goods. “We are determined to continue our operations across the city to curb such unlawful activities. Further investigations are currently underway to trace the origins of the smuggled goods and to apprehend those involved in this illicit trade,” he added.
This seizure marks a significant victory for Multan Customs as they continue their relentless pursuit to eradicate smuggling networks operating within the region. The success of this operation is expected to serve as a deterrent to other potential smugglers and underscores the effectiveness of the government’s anti-smuggling policy.
