Multan Customs seizes plastic shopping bags worth Rs2m from Sadiqabad

MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement thwarted smuggling attempt by seizing huge quantity of plastic shopping bags worth Rs.2 million near Sadiqabad.

Sources told Customs Today that Multan Customs Enforcement received credible information that huge quantity of smuggled goods will be transported in the Jurisdiction.

Collector Muhammad Tahir directed Additional Collector Shaukat Ali and Assistant Collector Fareed ud Din Masood to thwart any attempt of smuggling. Multan Customs Collector stepped up the anti-smuggling in the jurisdiction on the special directives of Chief Collector Customs Enforcement Lahore Zulfiqar Ali Chaudhry.

Multan Customs formed special team comprising Inspector Waqas Leghari, Inspector Abdul Samad and Inspector Ansar Hussain along with other staff to take action against smuggled goods.

Customs anti-smuggling squad deputed staff at various strategic points to intercept the said trucks by recovering huge amount quantity of plastic shopping bags. During the past few days after lifting lockdown, Customs Enforcement & Compliance Multan has thwarted several major smuggling attempts in jurisdiction.

Customs staff of MCC Multan intercepted the said truck containing smuggled plastic Shopping bags. Anti-Smuggling staff of Sadiqabad teams recovered almost 8 tons of plastic shopping bags during their action and seized plastic bags along with vehicles and net value of the seized goods was almost Rs.7 million. Further action was under way against the said smuggled goods and vehicles
