MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement & Compliance (E&C) thwarted smuggling attempt by seizing huge quantity of plastic shopping bags worth Rs50 million near Rojhan.
Sources told Customs Today that Customs E&C received credible information that huge quantity of smuggled goods will be transported in the jurisdiction.
Collector Muneeza Majeed directed Additional Collector Asdaq Afzal Sensera and Deputy Collector Faizan Badar to thwart any attempt of smuggling. Multan Customs Collector stepped up the anti-smuggling in the jurisdiction on the special directives of Chief Collector Customs Enforcement Lahore Faiz Ahmad.
Additional Collector Asdaq Afzal Sensera and Deputy Collector Faizan Badar formed special team comprising Inspector Waqas Leghari, Inspector Abdul Samad and Inspector Ansar Hussain along with other staff to take action against smuggled goods.
Customs anti-smuggling squad deputed staff at various strategic points to intercept the said trucks by recovering huge amount quantity of plastic shopping bags after the lock down. During the past few days after lifting lockdown, Customs Enforcement & Compliance Multan has thwarted several major smuggling attempts in jurisdiction.
Customs staff of MCC Multan intercepted said truck containing smuggled plastic Shopping bags. Anti-Smuggling staff of Dera Ghazi Khan Custom’s teams recovered almost 21 tons of plastic shopping bags during their action and seized plastic bags along with vehicles and net value of the seized goods was almost Rs50 million.
Customs Enforcement and Compliance team after registering a case started investigations.
