Multan Customs seizes smuggled LEDs & tyres near Khanewal Road

MULTAN: Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization has seized foreign origin smuggled LEDs and steel belted radial tyres  worth Rs.1.076 million.

According to details, Additional Collector Customs Enforcement & Compliance Shafiqur Rehman received credible information about smuggling of foreign origin LEDs and directed Assistant Collector Omer Sajjad to thwart any attempt of smuggling.

Assistant Collector Omer Sajjad enhanced patrolling to capture smuggled goods. Anti-Smuggling Organization team intercepted a truck near Khanewal Road and recovered 33 LEDs including 32 inches and 10 inches of almost 280 High Definition Digital LED,s TVs during their action.

Customs teams recovered 43 Samsung brand LED smart TVs of 32 inches and used belted radial tyres of size 145R17 in their action. Customs teams asked the driver for producing documents regarding the legal import of the recovered LEDs and radial tyres but he could not prove anything lawful. Then anti-smuggling teams seized said LED, s along with vehicle under the Customs Act 1969.

The seized goods were deposited to the Customs State Ware House Multan. The net value of the seized goods was almost Rs.1.076 million. Further investigations are still under way.
