MULTAN: Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization seized huge quantity of smuggled tyres and goods along with vehicles worth Rs8 million in their operation.
According to details, Customs Collectorate received credible information from their source that different smuggled goods loaded on container and trucks entered into jurisdiction from Quetta and said goods will be transported through Taunsa route.
Collector Customs Ambreen Ahmad Falki formed special team comprising Inspector Arshad Nadeem, Inspector Zia-ur-Rehman Bhatti and others to thwart attempt of smuggling in the territory and also directed anti-smuggling squad to keep strict vigil on the movement of smuggled vehicles and other miscellaneous goods to prevent smuggling.
Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization teams intercepted suspected truck bearing registration number TLQ-237/Lasbela and container displaying registration number PT-1436/Sindh in their action from Head Taunsa Bridge which were loaded with huge quantity of branded tyres and other goods. Customs staff conducted examination of the container and truck.
Customs teams recovered foreign origin tyres of Sport Rak, DURUN, WINMAX, FRONWAY, USHEILD and other brands from Container. Truck was also loaded with 255 tyres of Sport Rak of China Origin. Drivers of the vehicles presented import documents of loaded goods to Customs staff on their demand. The value of seized goods was almost Rs.8 million and duty taxes of Rs.6.5 million.
Customs found import GDs as bogus after verification and taken seize said goods in their custody under Customs act 1969 and arrested Mansoor Khan son of Qabil Shah, Mansoor Khan son of Meen Khan, Muhammad Shehzad son of Rashid Khan, Muhammad Asif son of Quaid Baaz and Sualemeen Khan son of Dooran Shah. Further investigations against accused goods are still under way till the filing of this report.
