Multan Customs starts tracing ghost employees

MULTAN: Customs Collectorate and Customs Intelligence and Investigation will conduct scrutiny of ifs employees as many of them are absent from duties for a long time.

According to details, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed the Customs Collectorate and Customs Intelligence and Investigation to carry out inspection of the existing employees which are not performing their duties and are absent for a long time. The FBR receiving frequent complaints about the long absence of customs staff without approval of leave from the authorities concerned. The Customs Collectorate had already completed the scrutiny of the employees on the direction of the FBR to search out ghosts employees from customs house in December. The FBR has instructed all collectorates, including Multan Customs and Customs Intelligence and Investigation to trace out absent and those who are withdrawing their salaries without any work.

Customs Collector Sarfraz Ahmad Warraich has formed a committee for the scrutiny of employees to trace out employees which are absent from their jobs for long time. Deputy Collector Muhammad Ali Malik has initiated the process of inspection of customs employees to find out ghost employees after verification of their attendance record. The FBR has installed the biometric system for their electronic attendance but employees which are performing their duties outside.

The FBR has also asked to report about those Customs employees which are on long leave on the grounds of medical. Those employees which are on the leave for quite long time will be fired from their jobs after verification. The Customs Collectorate and Customs Intelligence facing shortage of staff and recruitment process of the new staff is under process.

The department have also started monitoring of those employees to find out non–attendant employees from their duties. Few suspected employees have been called for interviews in front of committee for their verification. The Customs Collectorate has intensified the process of verification to trace out absent employees through scrutiny of record.
