Multan Customs summons accused in smuggling of contraband items

MULTAN: Customs Collectorate issued summon to suspect who is allegedly involved in smuggling of cigarettes, Indian gutka and other items.

The Federal Investigation Agency team raided a private warehouse situated near post office Chah Bohar Street Aziz Hotel Chowk on 20th January and recovered a huge quantity of cigarettes, Indian Gutka and other items from Sharafat Ali and Atif Ali.

FIA team lodged FIR no.29/2019 against the accused after the recovery and found involved in smuggling of foreign origin cigarettes, Indian Gutka along with other items.

During investigation of Federal Investigation Agency, they found that Ashiq Ali son of Ali Jan fully involved in smuggling of contraband goods in the country through clandestine routes on his vehicle bearing registration MNT -3130.

Federal Investigation Agency has transferred the said case to Multan Customs Collectorate along with smuggled contraband items. Multan Customs Collectorate has issued summon to suspect Ashiq Ali that he should appear before the investigation team. Investigation and Prosecution team will ascertain involvement in the smuggling of contraband goods and suspect will also give clarification regarding recovered the contraband goods.

Multan Customs Collectorate has summoned Ashiq Ali under section 166 of the Customs Act 1969 to appear before the Investigation Officer Inspector Ashraf Ali on 8th February 2019 for finalizing investigation in said case. Further action in said matter will be taken after the completion of Investigation.
