MULTAN: The Federal Board of Revenue has directed the Collectorate of Customs, Multan to hold fortnightly auction for the disposal of confiscated vehicles and goods.
Customs Collectorate, Multan had decided to hold auction of confiscated goods and vehicles every month. But the Collectorate has been directed to conduct fortnightly auction of confiscated vehicles and goods to generate more revenue during the remaining period of the on-going Fiscal Year 2017-18.
The Federal Board of Revenue directed all Collectorates including Multan Customs to take necessary measures against the lying vehicles and goods in the Stateware House for their early disposal through auction.
Multan Customs’ Anti-smuggling Organization impounded huge number of non-customs paid vehicles in their operations and confiscated vehicles which were brought into the country through clandestine routes without payment of any duty and taxes.
Multan Customs offered non–tampered vehicles for auction in the light of their forensic examination report and tampered vehicles are not auctioned according to rules of Customs. But tampered vehicles are allotted to different departments and officers for performing official duties.
Confiscated vehicles and goods are auctioned after proper trial from Customs Adjudication. After the disposal of seizure cases from Customs Adjudication, customs department issued final notice to owner for the auctioning of goods and vehicles.
Multan Customs Collectorate will submit their fortnightly report to Federal Board of Revenue regarding the auction of confiscated goods and vehicles. Fortnightly auction will generate more revenue and it will also assist Collectorate in accomplishing revenue targets.
