Multan Customs to take action against officials using detained vehicles

MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement has directed Customs Officers for banning usage of NCP vehicles which were being used illegally by certain Customs officers and officials and prohibited unauthorized use of vehicle.

According to details, Deputy Collector Rehan Ahmad has issued directions that if any seized/detained vehicle is drawn from ASO warehouse, both the officer/official using the vehicle as well as responsible for safe keeping of vehicle will be rendered to proceedings under the law.

It may be mentioned here few Customs Inspectors were found while driving a vehicle with an official number plate, the vehicle had been seized by Multan Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization for being non-custom-paid. The owner of the vehicle came to know that his vehicle which was seized in jurisdiction. The owner of the vehicle started looking for his vehicle, and subsequently spotted his vehicle under the use of a certain Customs Officer. The owner has submitted written complaint against usage of NDP vehicles. It was known that the vehicle was under the use of female Customs officer.

It was also known that the vehicle had been seized for being non-custom-paid. And the same vehicle was given under the use of a Customs officer fixed with an official number plate. After the direction of Customs Collectorate Multan Enforcement all officers have been prohibited to use non-duty paid vehicles seized by ASO.
