MULTAN: The Multan Dry Port (MDP) has cleared 37 consignments of Pak Arab Refinery Ltd (PARCO) during the month of February.
According to details, Multan Dry Port cleared 37 ex-bonding consignments of 135 million litres of high speed diesel worth Rs 6,508 million in the month of February.
Being the only dry port in the region of southern Punjab, it is significant that it has collected customs duty of Rs 488 million, while the sales tax collected from the ex-bonding diesel oil was almost Rs 1,848 million.
The Model of Customs Collectorate Multan has generated petroleum levy of Rs 1,086 million from the consignments of high speed diesel.
It may be mentioned here that the import of high speed diesel has dropped by almost 64 million litres due to increase in local production of crude oil during the last six months. Because of this, the Multan Dry Port has also suffered in terms of generation of revenue.
