Multan Dry Port exports goods worth Rs 1.85 billion during March, up 22pc from last year’s ‏

MULTAN: The Multan Dry Port Trust (MDPT) has generated Rs 1.85 billion from exports during the month of March.

Multan Dry Port Trust has handled 414 various export consignments from the two hubs during the month of March in the existing economic year 2014-15. DPT Sher Shah has handled 216 export consignments from Multan Dry Port Trust in the month of March.

Muzaffargarh export terminal is the major hub allocated only for the export by the Multan Dry Port Trust, which handled 198 export consignments from the region. The total gross weight of the export consignments handled by the Multan Dry Port Trust during the March was almost 6692191 kilograms. The export activity at the Multan Dry Port Trust increased 22 percent during the month of March as compared to the previous year of the fiscal 2013-14.

The export revenue of the Multan Dry Port Trust has also been increased almost 4 percent from the previous year and the gross weight of the export consignments has also been increased up to 22 percent as compared to previous fiscal year 2013-14.

The major export items handled at MDPT in the month of March were textile made up, grey cloth, cotton yarn, leather goods and other general goods.

The biggest exported item was cotton yarn with 254 containers of 64,32,814 kg at Rs 1,417.521 million  from the Multan Dry Port Trust during the month of March.

The second major item exported was Rs 266.977 million grey cloth with total weight of 803,327 from the Multan Dry Port Trust .

The third major export items of the Multan Dry Port Trust were leather goods in the month of march during the current fiscal year 2014-15. There were total 118 export containers of leather goods handled with net weight of 540,782 kg  in the month of March.

The fourth major item exported from the MDPT was textile made up with total weight of 152,488 kilograms. There were 24 export consignments handled from the Multan Dry Port Trust.

As per details the export from Multan Dry Port Terminal has been increasing day-by-day due to their better facilities and exporters are also showing their full trust in the MDPT due to their rapid clearance of consignments.
