MULTAN: The Customs Collectorate of Appraisement –West has issued assessment alert as certain importers and shipping agents are trying to clear consignments on forged bills of lading.
Collector Jawwad Uwais Agha has informed all field formation offices to remain vigilant against forged import consignments at the time of clearance in Pakistan to thwart any attempt of delivery.
The Customs Collectorate of Appraisement –West received information that certain importers in connivance with the shipping agents are involved in manipulation of bills of lading to get clearance of import goods either not importable under import e.g Indian origin fabric or by availing concessionary regimes of foreign trade agreements.
It is pertinent to mention that said Collectorate have intercepted three containers of textile imported by M/s Badar Computer Enterprises port of shipment was cleared from “Ningbo China”by the shipping agent AMI Pakistan Pvt. Limited . Customs found scrutiny of the Master bills of lading issued by shipping line M/s United Marine agencies it leaked that goods were actually shipped from Dubai instead of China.
On the other hand it comes into knowledge of Customs authorities that importer have tried to take benefit of clearance of banned Indian fabric goods with connivance of Shipping agent.
Further investigation of the said containers had neither originated shipped from nor had they touched China port route. These containers had only spent few hours at Jabel Ali Port and either kept lying within the port where labels were possibly replaced reflecting the origin of the goods. First Information Report has been lodged against said importer as well as shipping agent and their arrests will be made soon.
After the direction of Collector Jawwad Uwais Agha Multan Dry Port have taken special measures in order to capture fraudulent import consignment at the time of clearance.
