The Federal Board of Revenue has launched WeBOC throughout Dry Ports of the Pakistan for the smooth clearance of consignments for the business community for the import and export handling.

Multan Dry Port is operating import consignments of the WeBOC system with the assistance of Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) but export has not converted to the WeBOC system due to ignorance of Multan Dry Port Trust Authorities.

The model of Customs Collectorate Multan is the third largest revenue collectorate with almost Rs 53 billion revenue collections in the country after Karachi and Lahore.

According to well-placed source of Customs Today, Multan Dry Port Trust has acute shortage of bonded carrier vehicles at the Dry Port trust for the shipment of export consignments. Most of the bonded carrier vehicles at the Multan Dry Port have been hired on rent for the clearance of export consignments to their destination of the exporters.

Textile items cotton yarn, fabric, thread and leather are the major export products handled at the Multan Dry Port for the clearance. One of the major obstacles faced by the exporters of South Punjab at the Multan Dry Port Trust is that export facility is still not upgraded as on the automated software to check their location of containers reached during the clearance. Multan Dry Port trust facing huge shortage of vehicles for the shipment of consignments at the Muzaffargarh export terminal for the clearance of major exports consignments handled.

Management of the Multan Dry Port Trust is still not interested in converting their export on the WeBOC from one custom system for the handling of the export consignments.

For the initiation of WeBOC system at the Multan Dry Port Trust needs to register their bonded carriers for adopting the newly automated software for providing better swift clearance facilities at the Multan Dry Port Trust.

Majority of exporters and clearing agents request  for the introduction of WeBOC system to expedite export dealings instead of one customs system as it more time in getting their GD,s cleared..
