MULTAN: Multan Dry Port wears desert look after Eid-ul-Fitr vacations as no consignment were available to handle.

According to the details, Multan Dry Port employees who are deputed were present to perform their duties for clearance of shipments but there were no consignments for import and export available for handling due to Corona virus.

The Multan Dry Port has cleared all pending shipments of imports and export before the Eid-ul-Fitar holidays. Due to clearance of all shipments, no consignment was available to handle. Multan Dry Port Trust has directed all shipping lines and their agents to ensure that their essential staffs are available for routine work in order to ensure business continuity and facilitation to the trade.

The Multan Dry Port Trust necessary staffs were also present on the duty for facilitation of importers and exporters but there was no shipment available at Port for clearance.

Importer and exporters informed Customs today that Multan Dry Port will likely to resume their operational activities from 1st May 2023. Majority of importers and exporters are resident of far-off areas and they went to their native towns after announcement of Eid vacations due to which port activities were almost suspended.

Shipment company employees including drivers, laborers are advised to keep their cell phones on that they will be called very soon if any shipment available for clearance. Sources told Customs today that normalcy will return to Multan Dry Port after resuming business activities in the industrial and commercial sector are almost shut down due to closure of Eid-ul-Fitar and absence of public transport.
