Multan I&I detects seizure cases of Rs960.57m

MULTAN: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) has detected seizures valuing Rs.960.57 million by framing 23 seizures during the month of February 2021, comprising of both Range Office Multan.

According to details, Directorate of Customs Intelligence & Investigation Multan has carried out crack down in the jurisdiction to curtail the menace of smuggling. Customs Intelligence has detected mega seizure cases during their crackdown in the month of February by framing 23 seizure cases. Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Range Office has seized goods and vehicles of worth Rs.960.57 million throughout February in their anti-smuggling actions. Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Range Office took out different anti-smuggling operations against smuggled goods and vehicles on the directions of Director Abdul Asad Raza in the Jurisdiction. The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Office has detected 15 different seizure cases in their action during the month of February.

Field Intelligence unit of Customs has impounded 8 various non-customs paid vehicles of Rs.49.30 million during their different actions in the month of February. These seized vehicles include Toyota Vitz, Hino Ranger Prime Mover, Suzuki Pick Up, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Hilux Surf, Toyota Fielder and others. These vehicles were impounded by Customs Intelligence teams on non-payment of their duty taxes and these vehicles were come into country through unauthorized routes. Customs Intelligence and Investigation teams have formed 8 various seizure cases of worth Rs.521.30 million in the month of February during various actions in the adjoining areas of Multan Region. The Field Intelligence unit of Customs has detected only seizure case of vehicle about Rs.325 million from Dera Ghazi Khan for the duration of February.

The Customs Intelligence unit of Sadiqabad has seized Rs.180.2 million goods and vehicles from the Sadiqabad Region in their anti-smuggling activities throughout month of February. Customs teams have seized various goods items of Rs.20.2 million besides vehicles in their actions which include old and used auto parts, Dry Coconuts, electronics items and others. Customs Intelligence and Investigation has enhanced the monitoring of the transportation of goods and vehicles to foil any attempt of smuggling from smugglers in the Jurisdiction. In addition to ASO performance, the Enforcement branch also performed exceptionally well when compared to last year performance. During the month of February 2021, the Enforcement branch made out 6 cases involving Rs787.05 million as duty and taxes. Customs Intelligence and Investigation have tightened the vigilance and strengthened intelligence network, which resulted in extra ordinary performance. It is also pertinent to mention here that the Customs Intelligence & Investigation Multan rendered unremitting and strenuous efforts to intercept the smuggling of contraband goods and vehicles despite the fact the Directorate has shortage of human and financial resources.
