Multan I&I recovers poppy seeds worth Rs25m from warehouse near Samundri

MULTAN: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized huge quantity of poppy seeds worth Rs25 million near Samundri.

According to the details, Additional Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Saeed Ahmad Wattoo received information regarding smuggling of poppy seeds. Additional Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation directed his field staff to conduct a raid to thwart any attempt of smuggling.

The Customs Intelligence field staff raided a warehouse on near Samundari road and recovered almost 332070 kilograms of poppy seeds. Customs Intelligence staff took the poppy seeds into their custody after thorough examination of the goods.

The driver of the truck informed Customs Intelligence staff that said poppy seeds were belonged to Haji Amanullah Ali, a resident of Faisalabad District and told interrogators that he was transporting the goods from Quetta to Faisalabad.

Field Intelligence told Customs Today that investigation was underway to trace out the main accused of the case. The net worth of said poppy seed was almost Rs.25 million. Further investigation was still under way.
