Customs Intelligence Multan staff was deputed near Bahawalpur bypass road to intercept said smuggled kerosene oil. Customs Intelligence team intercepted oil tanker which was loaded with smuggled kerosene oil.

The driver of the oil tanker failed to produce any documents to Customs Intelligence and Investigation staff during verification.

Customs team came to know that kerosene oil was transported to Multan through Balochistan via Dera Ghazi Khan region for supply in the local markets and said kerosene oil was smuggled through Iran. Smuggler carried out kerosene oil illegally in the country through clandestine route and caused huge loss to the national exchequer.

Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan staff took kerosene oil along with tanker in their custody for further investigation. The value of seized kerosene oil is almost Rs8 million.

Customs Intelligence and Investigation has also started legal action for criminal proceedings against driver and owner of the kerosene oil. Further investigations against illegal imports are still underway.
