MULTAN: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation detained huge quantity of foreign origin cloth and copper from Sher Shah.
According to sources of Customs Today, Deputy Director Khial Muhammad Khan received information that huge quantity of foreign origin cloths and copper goods will be smuggled through jurisdiction.
Deputy Director Khial Muhammad informed its field intelligence staff by forming special team comprising Inspector Haq Nawaz, Inspector Qaswar Shah and others to thwart any attempt of smuggling from Multan region.
Field Intelligence Unit enhanced patrolling of different routes of Multan to intercept them by deputing staff at entrance of different points for strict vigilance.
Customs Intelligence staff intercepted truck which was loaded with different goods including foreign origin cloth and copper in their action.
Customs Intelligence teams recovered 4000 kilograms foreign origin cloth and copper which was concealed under the guise iron scrap. The net quantity of recovered copper is 5000 kilograms.
Customs Intelligence staff asked the driver to produce documents regarding legal import of the recovered goods. But driver of the truck failed to produce any legal documents to justify its legal possession of said goods regarding the transportation of the recovered goods.
Customs Intelligence teams seized said goods under Customs Act 1969. Further investigations are still under process.
