Multan I&I seizes smuggled tyres, vehicle near Khanewal Road

MULTAN: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&) has seized a truck loaded with imported used tyres and vehicles of worth Rs2.5 millionnear Khanewal Road.

As per detail, Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized the truck bearing registration number TKP 520 which contains 520 used imported tires near Khanewal. Smugglers were trying to dodge customs team by transporting non-duty paid tires of Bridgestone and others brands. Due to timely action of Customs Intelligence and Investigation staff smuggled tires were seized.

Additional Director Customs Intelligence and information formed the team for action in which Inspector Sheikh Muhammad Arshad, Inspector Qaswar Shah, Inspector Hafiz Muhammad Younas took the action against them along with Constable Zulfiqar and detained the goods for absence of documents. Additional Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Saeed Ahmad Wattoo said that we are taking prompt action against any illegal smuggled goods due to non-payment of customs duty. Moreover, the market price of seized tyres is more than Rs2 million.

Further investigations and proceedings were under process against the culprits.
