Multan RTO recovers Rs.8.9m after attaching bank account of defaulter

MULTAN: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Regional Tax Office (RTO) on Wednesday recovered Rs.8.9 million outstanding tax arrears from the bank account of a businessman Ali Hussain Qureshi after adopting proper procedure and meeting all legal requirements.

According to details, Customs Intelligence and Investigation detected around Rs10 million tax evasion by a renowned businessman Ali Hussain Qureshi and sent the case to Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue after an inquiry for further action.  The defaulter is also former General Manager Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited.

Additional Commissioner Regional Tax Office Multan Zahida Sarfraz was directed by Chief Commissioner to take action against defaulter for the recovery of Income taxes. Regional tax authorities of Multan served several notices on defaulter for the payment of outstanding income taxes but he did not respond.

Additional Commissioner Zahida Sarfraz reached the private bank located in the Samijabad area along with staff of Inland Revenue and recovered the Rs8.9 million default amount of income taxes from bank account of Ali Hussain Qureshi.

It is also necessary to mention here that the Regional Tax Office has accelerated the recovery drive from defaulters in the jurisdiction to meet the assigned revenue task of current fiscal year 2017-18.
