LAHORE: The Regional Tax Office (RTO) Multan has recovered taxes worth Rs 10.73 billion the last month, officials said on Wednesday.
The recovery target of Rs 11.5 billion was set for May, however, according to reports received so far, Rs 10.73 billion was recovered until May 31 which included Rs 3.28 billion income tax, Rs7.38 billion sales tax and Rs70 million federal excise duty (FED).
The officials said the figure suggested that RTO Multan missed the target for May 2016 by Rs 0.77 billion, adding that the exact figures would be received within next few days.
They said that RTO Multan comprises Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Sahiwal divisions and reports in some districts of these divisions are compiled manually and may not be included in the Rs 10.73 billion figure. They said tax recovery reports for May 2016 were still pouring into the RTO Multan and hoped that target would be achieved when reports from all districts reach Multan.
