Multan RTO seals two departmental stores over POS violations

MULTAN: The Regional Tax Office sealed two departmental stores over POS violations a decisive move against tax evasion and Point-of-Sale (POS) violations, Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue Regional Tax Office (RTO) Multan Dr. Muhammad Sarmad Qureshi, directed Deputy Commissioner Umair Shafqat to take stringent action against non-compliant businesses. Acting on these directives, the tax authorities conducted operations at Model Town and MDA Chowk, sealing two well-known departmental stores for persistent violations.

The enforcement teams sealed Bakht Mega Mart in Model Town and Ahmed Sweets at MDA Chowk for consistently violating POS regulations, overcharging customers, and causing losses to the national exchequer. The crackdown follows repeated notices issued to ensure compliance with the mandatory integration of POS systems with tax authorities.

Speaking to the media, Deputy Commissioner Umair Shafqat emphasized that under the directives of the Chief Commissioner Muhammad Sarmad Qureshi stringent actions will continue against businesses failing to comply with POS integration. He highlighted that violations such as delayed registration, disconnection from the POS system, failure to issue receipts, and providing counterfeit invoices will not be tolerated.

He further assured that enforcement operations would remain impartial, and businesses found violating tax regulations would face strict action without any leniency. “We are committed to ensuring transparency and accountability in the taxation system,” he added.

The Regional Tax Office Multan department reiterated its commitment to enhancing tax compliance and warned that similar actions would be taken against other non-compliant businesses across the region. Market players are urged to integrate their POS systems in accordance with regulatory requirements to avoid punitive measures.
