Mumbai Customs arrest Chinese national trying to smuggle Rs 13m woth foreign currency

MUMBAI: The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Mumbai Customs seized foreign currency worth Rs. 1,32,70,000 from a Chinese national at the Mumbai International Airport on Friday. The 2,00,000 USD was seized from Wu Xiaobin, who has a Chinese passport E59487538 and was departing from Mumbai for Hong Kong. Xiobin was to take Jet Airways Flight number 9W 076 that was expected to leave for Hong Kong at 1.20am on May 20. The passenger was been arrested.

“He was detained in the departure area on the basis of profiling,” said an AIU Official. The US currency was concealed in two black colour sheets that were pasted on the upper portion of two checked-in trolley bags. Each trolley bag was hidding 100,000 US dollar.
