MUMBAI: The Customs recovered 7.5 kg gold worth Rs 1.90 crore from four different air passengers on Thursday and booked them in gold smuggling cases.
In first case, the Customs officers arrested a Bangladesh national and recovered 5 kg gold worth Rs 1.23 crore from her at international airport on early Thursday. The accused Farhana Poly arrived from Malaysia. She had concealed the gold in her undergarments. In another care they arrested Abdul Shaikh along with 2 kg gold worth Rs 52 lakh. He arrived from Dubai via Kuwait. He had concealed the gold in laptop bag.
In two other instances, the Customs booked two passengers Ashish Patel and Sunil Gheewala in gold smuggling cases and recovered gold worth Rs 15 lakh from them at international airport on Thursday.
Officials stated that they acted on specific input and intercepted the four passengers inside the airport premises.
